Who is God and who is Love…?

“Beloved, let us love one another,
for love is of God;
and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
He who does not love does not know God,
for God is love.”
(1 John 4:7 – 8)

The last four words of 1 John 4 verse 8
Tell us WHO God is
AND tell us WHO Love is

God is Love AND Love is God

Therefore, we can READ 1 Corinthians 13
Verses 4 to 8a to not ONLY
Find out what and who Love is
But also, we find out Who God is

“Love(God) suffers long and is kind;
love(God) does not envy;
love(God) does not parade itself,
is not puffed up;
does not behave rudely,
does not seek its own,
is not provoked,
thinks no evil;
does not rejoice in iniquity,
but rejoices in the truth;
bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love(God) never fails.”
(1 Corinthians 13:4 – 8a)

I must admit I am tempted to dissect
Each statement of what Love is
And to try and go into great detail
About what each of them means

But rather I think I should say this:
This passage is used by Brides
And spoken within a Wedding Ceremony
So, so many times

And YES that is good
And sounds so sweet
Such a high standard to reach
Both for the Bridegroom and the Bride

But since I have pointed out
That Love can be replaced by God
And vice versa

The better understanding of this passage
And especially in the context of marriage
Is NOT to try and reach this standard

But rather to embrace God who IS Love

Let God who IS Love
Live in and through YOU

Whether or not you are single
Married or whatever
Embrace, believe in and trust God
Who will, by nature, Love through you

Perfectly!
