When things grow COLD

We live our lives on highs and lows, mountain tops and valleys
Our emotions fluctuate often, for some more than others

What seemed yesterday to be the “be all and end all”
Today is “yesterday’s news”

And yet Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8)
He doesn’t change
Life for Him is a “level playing field”
No ups and downs

We may be tempted to disagree
For we KNOW the life that He lived
Born into poverty – in a stable – in a manger
Foxes have holes…birds of the air…the Son of Man has nowhere… (Matthew 8:20)

Never allowed to get any peace and quiet
People always running after Him
Crowding Him
Sometimes by the thousands…

And then…His death
Can hardly be described as “a level playing field”
Can it?

Probably NOT – if you only look at things from OUR perspective
And, of course, we shouldn’t

God SEES a different picture
In many ways we see a Canvas with loads of coloured threads sticking out
All over the place
Tangled and matted together
Absolute nonsense, mayhem and anarchy
And yet, turn the Canvas over – and a beautiful picture is revealed
GOD’s perspective

ALL that happened to Jesus
Was part of the plan
Jesus – the Son of Man – appeared before the Ancient of Days – the Father (Daniel 7:13)
The creator agreed to become the created
Then Jesus, Son of Man
Believed by FAITH who He was and is – through the instruction of the Holy Spirit
And so His life was indeed a “level playing field” – by faith

We too then, need to look at our life as a Christian
As a “level playing field” – by FAITH
For He whom we have believed in is able to keep us (2 Timothy 1:12)
We are no longer JUST human
One third of us is identical to Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:23)
Our spirit man died when we were born again
We now have the Spirit of Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17 and 18a)

So if you are tempted to think that things “have grown COLD”
Then remind yourself WHO you are
Remind yourself WHOSE you are
Remind yourself that He LOVES you
Remind yourself that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Amen.
