I aim to start my day with Holy Communion
And then have my Breakfast
A simple way of ensuring that I am
Seeking Him first and putting Him first
This morning was no different
If only for the fact that I had slept in
Up around 7:30am
Before going upstairs to my Study
I made myself a latte
And was looking out the window
At two sets of birds – fighting
I assumed / presumed that it was two males
One chasing the other away from his territory
Away from his mate and their nest
The first were doves, in the foreground
The second were darker in colour
At a distance
And I started to ponder
And God spoke to me
At first I thought – we are like that
Then immediately heard His voice
And knew we are not
Growing up in School
We so often think
That it is only the strong, talented
Boys that get the girls
And there are those who pride themselves
In their strength and their fitness
Who believe that they will WIN
At anything that comes their way
But this is NOT God’s way
We are NOT like the animals
Or creatures that He made
We are creationists
NOT evolutionists
As I watched the birds
I remembered having recently watched
The Lion King
Simba and Mufasa
And again I started to think
About the King of the Jungle
But God spoke and showed me
Another way – His Way
In Matthew 18 the disciples
Asked Jesus: “Who then is greatest
in the kingdom of heaven?”
(Matthew 18:1)
Jesus answered by drawing their attention
To a little child
“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted
and become as little children,
you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child
is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matthew 18:3 – 4)
The Apostle Paul said this:
“For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
(2 Corinthians 12:10)
Weak in himself
But strong IN and through the Lord Jesus
Who dwells in Him and works through Him
Our identity
Our starting point – is seeking Him first
Our way of living is IN and through Him
Compared to God Almighty – we are weak
And when we humble ourselves
THEN we become strong
Not strong in and of ourselves
But strong with His strength
With His leading and guiding
Knowing that He never leaves us nor forsakes us
Knowing, that by His Spirit, we will know what to say
And this ONLY comes by being
Prepared to be weak
And humble ourselves
For Christ’s sake
