What then is an “unclean” spirit?

A person who is Born Again
Believes and trusts in Jesus
Has the Holy Spirit in their spirit
Is spiritually alive

But a person who is not Born Again
Who does not believe
And trust in Jesus
Is spiritually dead

What then is an “unclean” spirit?

“Now there was a man
in their synagogue
with an unclean spirit.
And he cried out, saying,
“Let us alone!
What have we to do with You,
Jesus of Nazareth?
Did You come to destroy us?
I know who You are—the
Holy One of God!
”But Jesus rebuked him, saying,
“Be quiet, and come out of him!”
And when the unclean spirit
had convulsed him
and cried out with a loud voice,
he came out of him.”
(Mark 1:23 – 26)

One of the first things
That I notice here
Is the “use of English”

The “unclean spirit”
Is a singular term
Implying ONE spirit

Yet this “unclean spirit”
Speaks to Jesus in the
Plural sense, or more
Than ONE…

It says:
“Let us alone!
What have we to do with You,
Jesus of Nazareth? “
(Mark 1:24)

Also please note…
That the “unclean spirit”
Is INSIDE the man
And it is NOT the man
Who is actually speaking
To Jesus
But the “unclean spirit”…

One could say that this man
In the synagogue has been
Taken over by, possessed
By the “unclean spirit”…

Which is exactly what is said
And described in Mark 1:23

Now the Bible does not
Explain why and how this
Spirit has gotten into this man

“But Jesus rebuked him, saying,
“Be quiet, and come out of him!” “
(Mark 1:25)

Jesus spoke with authority
To the “unclean spirit”
And gave IT a command…

“And when the unclean spirit
had convulsed him
and cried out with a loud voice,
he came out of him.”(Mark 1:26)

Notice too that the “unclean spirit”
Is referred to again in the singular:
“HE came out of him”

ONE unclean spirit
Which spoke in the plural
As WE…

Let me try and explain this…
If it is GOOD it is God
If it is BAD it is the devil

God cannot LIE
So always speaks the TRUTH

The devil cannot speak the TRUTH
So always LIES

The unclean spirit
Or in fact any unclean spirit
Will try and bring confusion

But Jesus dealt with the problem
And cast the unclean spirit OUT

As He taught the Disciples
To do as well
And gave them authority
To be able to do it
(Matthew 10:8)
