What IS love…?
This first line is different from the title
As the emphasis is on a different word
Illustrated by my use of Capital letters
When we read something
It matters WHERE we put the emphasis
The words may be exactly the same
But when read in a particular way
The meaning can change
We sing a song
“Love came down at Christmas”
But what IS love?
Or maybe better put
“WHO is love?
In John 14:1 – 14
Jesus talks about Himself and the Father as being One
“If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father”
Then at the beginning of 1 John, in chapter 1
John talks about what was Heard, Seen and Touched
READ 1 John 1:1 – 4
John talks about the “life”
But he is talking about a person
In John 14:6 – Jesus refers to Himself as being the “life”
I was watching “James Martin’s Islands to Highlands”
On itv.com/hub Week 6 on Dorset
There is a scene where chef Paul Ainsworth is with James
Having dinner on a beach
Which is a lovely romantic setting
Paul, jokingly, commented on James’ beautiful blue eyes
Part of LOVE…
IS taking the time to stare into the EYES
Of the ONE you love
And God spoke into my heart
And said… Alan, I want to spend time with you
THAT is what God wants to do with ALL of us
For that is what Love is – part of it, anyway
When was the last time you were still and knew that He was God?
When was the last time you looked into His eyes, through the Word?
Read something like 1 John 1:1 – 4
And realised who Jesus truly is
That when you have seen Jesus, you have seen the Father also
(John 14:7, 9, 10 & 11)
And just stayed there and fellowshipped with Him
ON PURPOSE
Just like lovers do
(Or at least – some do)
This is why Jesus – the life – eternal life CAME
So that we could KNOW Him
Be with Him, spend time with Him
Forever…!
Simply REST in Him
And be loved – by Almighty God
And have the honour and privilege to love Him back
