How often do we think of a phrase…
And think it is scripture?
When in reality it’s from the words of a Hymn
And sometimes even Shakespeare!
I woke this morning with the words:
“Trust and Obey for there’s no other way…”
I think because of events that are happening today
Things that I will be doing, later on today
Thinking too of things others may be doing today, also.
So I search in my Bible
And I Googled the phrase
And the Hymn was revealed
With the Chorus:
“Trust and Obey for there’s no other way…”
The Hymn is, of course, based on scripture
Psalm 84:11 – 12 and Isaiah 50:10
But the first two lines stood out for me:
“When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!”
This refers directly to what I was talking about yesterday
“Your Word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path”
(Psalm 119:105)
So when we think that we may have missed it
We need to look further or deeper and think again
“Trust and Obey”
Is appropriate for today
In whatever it is that you find yourself doing
Google the Hymn and READ it all
It’s a bit too long for me to write it all here
And check out the scriptures I’ve quoted too
Sometimes it is better to have “pointers”
Than to be “spoon fed” or “bottle fed” all the time
God wants us to GROW UP – to mature
He does NOT want us to stay as babies
Always reliant on others
There is ONLY one we should be reliant on
And that is the Holy Spirit
I use the logo of an open book
With a dove hovering over it
This depicts the Bible and the Holy Spirit
If we ONLY have the Word, in our lives
We are in danger of drying up
If we ONLY have the Holy Spirit, in our lives
We are in danger of “blowing up” – exploding!
However, if we have the Word and the Holy Spirit together
We WILL grow up
