“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God”
(2 Corinthians 10:4 and 5)
The Christian life is a battle – BUT…
- The battle is NOT against people
- The battle is NOT against “flesh and blood”
- The battle is NOT carnal
The battle involves…
- Pulling down strongholds
- Casting down arguments
- Every high thing
These “things” are battles in our MIND
Thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God
I could focus on the bad things here
But rather I believe God wants us to focus on the good
The end of the above scripture says:
“exalts itself against the knowledge of God”
Our focus should be “the knowledge of God”
YES there are things that come against us – as Christians
And YES we need to be prepared and aware of our enemy
But our FOCUS should be about “knowing Him”
We think that if we KNOW the enemy really well
We will be better equipped to defeat him
Or be able to stand against him
I heard a story about how the Bank of England teaches its employees to recognise a forgery
They train them to KNOW the “real thing”
- What the Note looks like
- How it feels to the touch
- Every detail of the Note
So by KNOWING the real thing
They will spot a forgery EASILY
We too NEED to KNOW God
Then we will spot a deception easily
And will not simply run away from it
But rather we will run to God
