“casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity
to the obedience of Christ”
(2 Corinthians 10:5)
Now we come onto verse 5
And I want to look at this
Initially in two parts
“casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,”
An “argument” may be considered as an opinion
There is absolute TRUTH
God is love and He is TRUTH
Jesus said, “I am the way, the TRUTH
And the Life”
(John 14:6)
So…”the knowledge of God” is TRUTH
Working on that premise then
Anything else that is expressed as truth
Opposes God
For example:
God made Adam and Eve
Male and Female
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and they shall become one flesh.”
(Genesis 2:24)
Male and male exist
As do female and female
But it is NOT God’s way
As described in Genesis 2:24
Now people have opinions
And arguments may ensue
But the Bible is clear and it is TRUTH
And we are to fight our battles with the Word
The sword of the Spirit – the Word of God
Which is Jesus and is TRUTH
And if or when we are faced with arguments
And people exalt their views
Which are different from what the Bible says
Then we need to “cast down” those things
By using the TRUTH of the Bible
It is NOT our job to go looking for trouble
But rather to cast it down when it arises
We operate in love and preach the Word
And be prepared in season and out of season
