The just shall live by faith

“The just shall live by faith”

This statement is quoted in three
Different verses of scripture:
Romans 1:17
Galatians 3:11
Hebrews 10:38

Making it of great importance

It is one thing for something to
Be written in the Bible ONCE
But quite something else when
It is recorded three separate times

But I want to consider it in the
Context of Matthew 22:34 – 46

The “just”
That is those who are Christian

Not “just” in and of themselves
But made “just” by Jesus
As we are the righteousness of God
In Christ Jesus our Lord
(2 Corinthians 5:21)

The Pharisees that opposed Jesus
(And as recorded in Matthew 22:34 – 46)
Saw themselves as being “just”
Because of their “works” and their
“Standing” within the community

They tried to trick Jesus with the Law
That they felt “they” knew
Which Jesus rightly used to answer
Them with and confound them

And the “just” shall live by “faith”

“Faith” in what?
“Faith” in whom?

Ourselves…?
Brilliant teachers…?
World renowned leaders…?
Money…?
Success…?
Our jobs or careers…?

Whatever you put your “faith” in…
Is what you trust and rely on
To help you in times of need…
To get through a difficult situation…
To provide answers and solutions
To the various issues of life…

As born again believers
We put our trust and “faith”
In Jesus Christ and Him alone
