“And Jesus came and spoke to them,
saying, “All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples
of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things
that I have commanded you; and lo,
I am with you always,
even to the end of the age.”
Amen.”
(Matthew 28:18 – 20)
And so the Gospel of Matthew
Comes to an end…
And yet that is not so…
As surely this is a NEW beginning…
The time for Jesus being physically
With His Disciples has indeed ended
But now they are to REPEAT
What He did with them…
And by definition of what it means to
REPEAT…
We are part of this SAME process
And Commission that Jesus gave
His Disciples to do…
GO and MAKE Disciples…
Of ALL nations…
Baptising them…
Teaching them…
All that I commanded you…
And DO likewise…
But what did Jesus command
Them to DO…?
“as you go, preach, saying,
‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Heal the sick,
cleanse the lepers,
raise the dead,
cast out demons.
Freely you have received,
freely give.”
(Matthew 10:7 – 8)
WE have been entrusted with
This SAME commission…
To PREACH…
To HEAL the sick…
To CLEANSE lepers…
To RAISE the dead…
To CAST OUT demons…
Just as those first Disciples did
WHY?
Because THAT is what Disciples do
And Jesus said it…
So WHAT are you doing, today…
For Jesus…?
Are you following His command…?
Are you preaching…?
Are you laying hands on the sick
And seeing them healed?
Are you casting out demons?
This is NOT just for the “super saints”
But this is for everyone who has
Called on the Name of Jesus
And calls themselves Christian
When WE, His church
Discover and learn who we are IN Him
We will rise up and FOLLOW Him
Doing the SAME things that He did
And His first Disciples did too…
It is not enough to simply
Know that we are going to heaven…
But since we ARE going to heaven
To DO what He commanded
The Disciples to do and help others
To join us in heaven
As witnesses of and for Jesus
We are Disciples too
And don’t simply talk about it
But ACT on it as well…
