The Corrupt Church

Not eactly how you would like to be known
Especially when you read what
Jesus says is GOOD about you…

“I know your works, love, service, faith,
and your patience; and as for your works,
the last are more than the first.”
(Revelation 2:19)

High praise indeed

And that your last works
Are more than the first…

Surely these are things
That we all would like
To be known for…?

Unfortunately, because of the title
We know there is a BUT coming…
(Or in this case, a NEVERTHELESS)

“Nevertheless I have a few things
against you”
(Revelation 2:20)

Oh dear…
Here it comes…

“That woman Jezebel”
(Revelation 2:20)

Jezebel was the wife of King Ahab
(And unfortunately, that is probably
The only good thing you could
Say about her)

“She taught and seduced My servants
to commit sexual immorality
and eat things sacrificed to idols”
(Revelation 2:20)

This is why the Church in Thyatira
Was called the corrupt church…

They ALLOWED these practices
To take place…

Jesus says that the following will happen:
“Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed,
and those who commit adultery with her
into great tribulation,
unless they repent of their deeds.”
(Revelation 2:22)

So which are we…?
Corrupt and perverse?
Or sound and godly?

But do not be deceived
If this could happen in the Bible
And be stated for all to read…

It could happen to you and me too

We need to “Seek first…”
To remember our “First love…”
And to love Jesus and Him only…

Yes, of course, we will love others
But ensure that Jesus is FIRST
That He is Lord of all…
