Paths of righteousness

“He leads me in the
paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.”
(Psalm 23:3)

King David needed
All the help he could get…

Being of “right standing”
Was and is and always
Has been very important…

Acceptance or rejection
Depends on whether or not
You are considered as being
WORTHY…

In the sight of people…
Friends or foe…

In the sight of God…

And being Righteous…
Can be the difference between
Life or death…

So King David depended upon
His Shepherd, his God
To lead him in the paths
Of righteousness…

For us, however, things
Are slightly different…

We still NEED Jesus
For Righteousness…
But He doesn’t
“Lead us in the paths”
Of Righteousness…

Rather, when we come to Jesus
And believe in Him…
And accept Him as our own
Personal Lord and Saviour…

We BECOME the Righteousness
Of God IN Christ Jesus our Lord
(2 Corinthians 5:21)

When Jesus died upon the cross
There was an EXCHANGE
That took place…

Jesus TOOK our sin which
John the Baptist talked about:
“Behold!
The Lamb of God who takes away
the sin of the world!”
(John 1:29)

So when Jesus had TAKEN
Our sin away He replaced it
With His RIGHTEOUSNESS…

We then ARE Righteous
Because of what Jesus
HAS done…

King David had to WALK
In the paths of Righteousness…
Which depended on him
Staying close to God

We are MADE Righteous
By Jesus…
When we are born again…
And REMAIN Righteous
Since we are the Righteousness
Of God IN Christ Jesus our Lord
(2 Corinthians 5:21)

King David remained Righteous
By his “works” of walking
In the paths that his Shepherd
Led him in…

We are Righteous by “Grace”…
Something that Jesus
Has done for us…
