“Then the eleven disciples
went away into Galilee,
to the mountain which Jesus
had appointed for them.
When they saw Him,
they worshiped Him;
but some doubted.”
(Matthew 28:16 – 17)
It puzzled me…
And then it encouraged me…
When I read this statement:
“but some doubted.”
(Matthew 28:17)
How could some of them
Still DOUBT?
And yet they did…
But it encouraged me
As I thought about the
Timeline concerning
These Disciples…
YES – it is AFTER the
Resurrection of Jesus
But BEFORE His ascension
And therefore BEFORE
Pentecost
For ALL eleven were present
In the same place at Pentecost
And so were ALL baptised in the
Holy Spirit
Eventhough at this point
Some of them doubted…
And then I got to think about
A minor prophet…
Who some might not even
Be aware of…
Habakkuk
“Though the fig tree may
not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the
olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be
cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd
in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice
in the Lord,
I will joy in the God
of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength;
He will make my feet
like deer’s feet,
And He will make me
walk on my high hills.”
(Habakkuk 3:17 – 19)
Do NOT focus on your doubts
NOR think about your failures
Rather TRUST in the Lord
For when we receive the Holy Spirit
As a result of Pentecost
And are baptised in the Holy Spirit
Our TRUST is always in the Lord
These eleven Disciples may NOT
Have had it all together
When they met Jesus on the
Mountain He had appointed
For them…
But they DID after being baptised
In the Holy Spirit
It was true for them
And it is true for us too
