My cup runs over

How often do you look at a glass of water…
And immediately think…
Though perhaps subconsciously…
“It’s half FULL”?

Or perhaps you are one of those
Who actually thinks the exact opposite:
“It’s half EMPTY”

Most of us are familiar with this picture
But just case it’s NEW to you…
This describes the difference
Between a PESSIMIST
And an OPTIMIST…

“You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.”
(Psalm 23:5)

In the case of King David
There was NEVER any doubt for him
Since the Lord, his Shepherd
Provided him with a cup
That “runs over”…

We see this reflected in the
New Testament when Jesus says:
“I have come that they may have life,
and that they may have it
more abundantly.”
(John 10:10)

What God has for us
Is NEVER simply enough
But ALWAYS more than enough
To the point of “running over”

It’s almost like…
Drinking from a cup of water
Which has a constant
Continual stream of water
Flowing into it while you drink…

You are refreshed while you drink
But your cup is always overflowing
It never runs out

This is a good picture
Of the Christian life
How we are always FULL of God
And yet never need refilling by Him

In Psalm 23 verse 5
When we are focused on the truth
That “My cup runs over.”
(Psalm 23:5)

We are not really aware of our enemies:
“You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.”
(Psalm 23:5)

King David faced a physical battle
Yet so often for us
The battle is a spiritual one…

And yet in the midst of our battle(s)
“My cup runs over”

He provides for us “abundantly”

The two are VERY real
“The enemies” and
“The abundant provision”

We get to choose which we FOCUS on

When we KNOW Him…
Jesus, Father, Holy Spirit – GOD…
The choice is easy

So decide to KNOW Him
Stay close to Him
Think constantly on Him
FILL your mind, thinking, thoughts
ON Him…

To the point where you
Don’t actually HAVE to…
It becomes EFFORTLESS…

A WAY of LIFE…
The Christian way of LIFE…
