Surely it is safe to say…
That Jesus delighted Himself in the Lord
In His case, the Lord was His Father
“Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires
of your heart.”
(Psalm 37:4)
When someone delights themselves in the Lord
The “desires” of their heart
The “desires” found in their heart
Are given to them by Him
We may think:
“This is what I want to do”
“MY choice”
But the truth of the matter is
That when you delight in the Lord
He either changes your desires
Or establishes the ones you have
So that His “desires”
Become your “desires”
So as I started:
Surely it is safe to say…
That Jesus delighted Himself in the Lord
I say this because of:
“Now when Jesus heard that John
had been put in prison,
He departed to Galilee.”
(Matthew 4:12)
AND
“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit”
(Matthew 4:1)
Jesus DID what He was led to do
By the Holy Spirit
His desire was to go to Galilee
Because He delighted Himself in the Lord
And was led by the Holy Spirit
Anything that Jesus ever did
Anywhere that Jesus ever went
Was led by the Holy Spirit
And this is how He wants us to lead our lives too
It was no accident that Jesus found
Himself in Capernaum
It was the will of God
So many, many times
The things that He did
Or the places He went
Had already been prophesied
In the Old Testament
(Matthew 4:14 – 16)
Capernaum is where Jesus
Started His ministry
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
(Matthew 4:17)
The same message that John the Baptist
Preached in Matthew 3:2
But we will now begin to see a difference
John preached this message
Followed by baptism
Jesus preaches this message
With signs and wonders following
