Kings and Priests

“To Him who loved us and washed us
from our sins in His own blood,
and has made us kings and priests
to His God and Father,
to Him be glory and dominion
forever and ever. Amen.”
(Revelation 1:5 – 6)

In the Old Testament
Before Jesus was born
There were Kings and Priests

Priests were descendents of Aaron
And a Priest couldn’t be a King
Nor could a King be a Priest

Here in Revelation 1,
John declares
That we who have been
Washed from our sins
By the blood of Jesus
Have been made BOTH
Kings and Priests

The significance of this
Has to do with the role
Of a King and a Priest

They are NOT simply titles

A King had authority
And a Priest ministered
Onto the Lord

As Priests we HAVE
Direct access to God
Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We do not need
To “go through”
Anyone else

We CAN talk to God
Personally
And directly

Then as Kings…
We have authority
Over everything…

This is made possible
By our WORDS…
By the things we say

Remember…
God SAID…
And it was so…

The earth and everything
Living in it…
Came into being
By God speaking it forth…

In a similar way…
We too have this same
AUTHORITY
To speak things into
EXISTENCE

When you realise
Who you ARE in Christ

That “as He is,
so are we in this world”
(1 John 4:17)

Jesus isn’t SICK
So we can command
Our bodies to be healed…

“Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation;
old things have passed away;
behold,
all things have become new.”
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

All of this has been
Made possible by Jesus

“To Him who loved us and washed us
from our sins in His own blood,
and has made us kings and priests
to His God and Father,
to Him be glory and dominion
forever and ever. Amen.”
(Revelation 1:5 – 6)

We have been
“washed from our sins”
“Behold!
The Lamb of God
who takes away
the sin of the world!”
(John 1:29)

Our sins have been…
WASHED – Revelation 1:5
TAKEN AWAY – John 1:29

And because of this
We are NOW
Kings and Priests
