John 14 verses 13 to 14

“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do,
that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
(John 14:13 – 14)

When you have read these verses – 13 & 14
You need to go back to verse 1
And read it all again

Listen to what Jesus says
Take heed to who He is
Believe Him

And then read verses 13 and 14 again

And YES – you read that correctly
It DOES mean what it says
And Jesus means what He says

Now before you start saying:
“Ah, but…” and giving all the reasons
Why you think it IS NOT SO

Go back and read from John 14:1 AGAIN

So IF you can believe the first 12 verses
Of John chapter 14 as being the TRUTH
Then these two verses are the TRUTH also

What does it mean to “Ask in My name”?
The “My” is capitalised, so refers to Jesus
The “name”, I believe refers to the “I AM”

When you ask Almighty God for anything
He will give it to you

WHY?
Because you are His
A Disciple
Called by His name
Men and women after His own heart

Which, of course, gives us the conditions
The understanding of “what” we can ask for

Anything that is in line with His will
NOT for selfish gain
NOT anything that would harm another person

His will is love, joy, peace
Righteousness, goodness, blessing

So think about the things that you may
Have asked for in the past…
Were your motives selfless…?
Were you genuinely thinking of others…?
