“I will no longer talk much with you,
for the ruler of this world is coming,
and he has nothing in Me.”
(John 14:30)
In the begining, Adam and Eve ruled this world
“Be fruitful and multiply;
fill the earth and subdue it;
have dominion over the fish of the sea,
over the birds of the air,
and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
(Genesis 1:28)
God created everything
And finally created man and woman
And told them to subdue the earth
And have dominion over every living thing
And then they gave up that dominion
When they ate the fruit of the tree
Of the knowledge of good and evil
That they had been told not to eat
And Lucifer, who became Satan,
Took their dominion
And became the ruler of the world
Because of their sin
What happened in the Garden of Eden
Was so much more than “eating fruit from a tree”
All authority, dominion and power to subdue
Was transferred from man to Satan
As a result of eating that fruit
Since Adam and Eve, in that moment
Chose NOT to believe God
But rather the word of a snake
And as a result of their sin
We are all born into sin
But Jesus was born of a virgin
A result of the work of the Holy Spirit
And so He was and remained totally sinless
While living as a man on the earth
And that is why Satan had nothing in Jesus
Satan had no dominion over Jesus
Then after Jesus’ death and resurrection
He said this to the Disciples:
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
(Matthew 28:18)
Jesus had now taken back
The dominion and ability to subdue all things
Which God had originally meant for man
What the first Adam had given to Satan
The second Adam, Jesus,
Bought back through the cross
So that all who would believe in Jesus
Would have that same dominion
In His name, to rule in this world
Even though Satan has been defeated
And stripped of all dominion
He still is able to operate through our thoughts
With words of deception
Making us “think” that he still has power
Having chosen to follow Jesus
Live as a Disciple of His
With His power, by the indwelling Holy Spirit
With His authority and dominion
As God had meant it to be
