“You must be born again…”
(John 3:7)
Being BORN into this world
Happens ONCE for everyone
But staying a baby is NEVER
An option…
Being Born Again involves
A choice, on our part
To believe in Jesus as the
ONLY Saviour of the world
When we make that choice
We become a child of God
A babe in Christ
A convert
And just like our natural birth
We are NEVER meant
To stay that way
Unfortunately, far too many
Christians choose to remain
As infants and live on milk
Rather than moving on to
Solid food needed for growth
In Matthew Chapters 24 & 25
Jesus speaks to His Disciples
On the Mount of Olives
This is just before He was betrayed
And handed over to be crucified
Jesus talks, at length, about
The End Times and what to expect
In response to questions from
His Disciples:
“Tell us, when will these things be?
And what will be the sign of Your coming,
and of the end of the age?”
(Matthew 24:3)
The answers that He gives in
Matthew 24 & 25 are for everyone
But only mature believers will be
Able to “hear” them and discern
What Jesus is saying
Those who have chosen to remain
On “milk” may fall away:
“And then many will be offended,
will betray one another,
and will hate one another.”
(Matthew 24:10)
“But he who endures to the end
shall be saved.”
(Matthew 24:13)
Being able to “endure” requires
More than “milk”
Hopefully you will be familiar
With the analogy I am using
Of how a baby depends on “milk”
Before it goes on to solid food
But just as is the case with “milk”
The child is only interested in
Being fed…
It is only when the child grows up
And has “solid” food that it
Starts to get know the mother
Or the provider of the food
Similarly, some people are ONLY
Interested in NOT going to Hell
Knowing Jesus is not something
They are really concerned with
As Disciples we are those who
Want to know Jesus personally
Not simply receive the benefits
Of believing in Him
So Jesus talks with His first Disciples
Who have been with Him for
Over three years…
And tells them about
“Things to come”
“And Jesus answered and said to them:
“Take heed that no one deceives you.
For many will come in My name, saying,
‘I am the Christ,’
and will deceive many.””
(Matthew 24:4 – 5 )
Jesus says that “many” will be decieved
We need to Grow Up in Him
Follow Him and learn from Him
Through reading the bible
And fellowshiping with other believers
